WSU’s 3rd annual Gender & Sexuality conference, cosponsored by the Department of Sociology, the Elliott School of Communications, the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, Shocker SOC Club, and Alpha Kappa Delta will be held on Friday, March 4th and we are very excited to have Lisa Wade as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Wade is the co-author of Gender: Ideas, Interactions, Institutions and the founder and principal writer for the popular website, Sociological Images (thesocietypages.org/socimages). She will lead a workshop on online feminist pedagogy and give an early evening talk on hookup culture on college campuses.
The conference will highlight original gender or sexuality related research and scholarship across disciplines from colleges and universities in Kansas.
Our primary goals are to create connections and dialogue among gender and sexuality scholars across the state and to provide students an opportunity for professional development including gaining experience presenting research.
The conference is free and open to the public.
